Eating in absence of hunger – A challenging habit for our physiology?Neurobiological mechanisms regulating energy homeostasis |
|
Physiological mechanisms protect our organisms from weight variation, and the brain integrates internal and external signals to encode feeding behavior according to our energy needs. With increasing overweight and eating disorders among the population, understanding these mechanisms and its limitations is important. In this talk, I will address new discoveries in the field of neurobiology of feeding, and discuss the mechanisms protecting body weight from overeating in a context of food abundance and permanent food cues in our environment. |
